About Us

Local Color NYC was founded in 2015 out of a passion for small business and American made values. In late 2013, owner Christne found herself laid off from her job as a corporate fashion designer and took it as a sign to follow her dreams. In her heart she knew she wanted to work with independent designers and small manufacturers instead of designing for huge corporations that thrive on overseas labor. Without looking back, she put the wheels in motion to start her own business... in a truck.

From Rockaway Beach to the Bronx Zoo, Governor's Island to Long Island, you could find the Local Color Truck roaming the streets as a boutique on wheels. But after about 4 years on the road, it was time to grow. After much searching, Christine found the perfect shop space in one of her favorite neighborhoods, Greenpoint Brooklyn. Shopping local (and American Made) should be fun, easy, and accessible.

Christine Lynch owner Local Color NYCChristine Lynch, founder and operator of Local Color NYC, has been a "hands on" girl since childhood. At the age of 11, she joined the local 4-H sewing club, and her love of sewing, fashion, and crafting took off. Through junior high and high school, Christine kept busy with art and sewing, and continued to college to earn a degree in Fashion Design. Since earning her degree, Christine has spent many years working for a national retailer designing women’s apparel and freelancing all over the region. In 2009 Christine found herself wanting something more and started an independent tee shirt line that was sold on etsy.com, and in 2013 became a vendor at flea markets around NYC. Christine loved the community of artists and designers that came to vend together at the various markets and knew she did not want to return to being a corporate designer. Christine has become passionate about Shopping Local and quality products made in the USA. She hopes Local Color NYC will be more than just a boutique, but be part of a larger cause bringing independent businesses to the forefront of New York City.
